Padel

Racquet sports just got more social

Padel. It’s one of the fastest growing racquet sports in the world. And for good reason - it’s fast-paced, incredibly social and easy to learn.

Play Padel at David Lloyd Clubs

We're rolling out Padel courts across many of our Clubs. This is a game that's as accessible as it is enjoyable - you can start playing at any age and fitness level. Padel has been described as thoroughly addictive, mostly due to how easy it is to pick up and progress. You play in doubles, and you’ll have to use teamwork to get ahead. Padel is a highly social sport - post-match catch-ups are very much the norm.

You’ll have access to:

Give Padel a go on one of our many dedicated courts. Some of our Clubs even have indoor courts, so you can play through rain, sleet and snow.

Racquet sports’ rising star

Combining fast-paced gameplay, social interaction and strategy, Padel has already won the hearts of over 25 million people worldwide. Are you ready to join them?

With only underarm serves allowed, you won't be able to outmuscle the other team. Get talking to your teammate, and get creative. Ricochet the ball off the back and sides of the court, and outsmart your opponents.

Get started with Padel

Come along to our classes and social clubs if you’re new to the game, looking to up your skills or to find new people to play against.

We divide these sessions up by experience level, so don’t worry if you’re a newbie. Besides, Padel is so easy to learn you’ll progress from beginner to expert in no time.

We also offer junior club sessions at some clubs, so you can get the kids involved, too.

What to expect

Think tennis meets squash. The lines on the court only affect scoring on the initial serve. Afterwards, two bounces anywhere on your side of the net means a point for your opponent.

Other than that, the scoring is identical to tennis. Use the walls on your side of court to your advantage by returning balls off the side or back. Two bounces on the opponent's side means a point for you. Expect fun, fast-paced games.

What you’ll need to play

Padel racquets are quite different from the ones we know and love in tennis. Instead of strings, they're solid and have holes in. And the balls are smaller and lighter than tennis balls. That means that when racquet meets ball it can pick up significant speed.

You can borrow Padel racquets from us and buy balls, so it’s no sweat if you’ve forgotten anything or don’t want to invest in equipment just yet. Just ask at your Club’s reception.

Indoor courts

Some of our Clubs have specialised indoor Padel courts so you can play all year round. These are framed in Perspex or wire, so you can bounce the ball off the sides of the court.

Play in the fresh air or brave the winter weather with our outdoor Padel courts. Many of our outdoor courts are floodlit, so you can keep playing even when the sun goes down.
